Obituary for Billy Gene Hinch

Mr. Billy Gene Hinch, 84, of Barry, IL, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Barry Healthcare and Senior Living in Barry.

He was born May 8, 1939, in Barry, to Bethel & Nora Frances (Gray) Hinch.


Bill was united in marriage to Fidella M. Wells on June 18, 1962, in Pittsfield.


He served in the Army from March 1957 to March 1962 and was stationed in Italy. Bill got to go to Washington, D.C. on the Honor Flight in October 2017.


Bill retired from Gardner Denver of Quincy after 36 years. Bill was honored as a Parade Marshall of the Barry Apple Festival. He was instrumental in starting the garden tractor pull during the festival. He also competed in tractor pulls winning many trophies.


He and Fidella enjoyed going to the boat and eating out at different restaurants.


He is survived by Fidella, his wife of 61 years, two sisters, Kathryn (Mike) Newman, and Janet Treadwell, all of Barry, one brother Roger Hinch, of Camp Point, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.


He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Casey Jo, who was stillborn in 1980, his parents, and one brother Gary Hinch.


Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2023, at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry.


Memorials are suggested to the Activity Fund at Barry Healthcare and Senior Living.


Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry is in charge of arrangements.
