Obituary for Kyle Rodney Woods

Kyle Rodney Woods, 38, of Baylis, IL, passed away at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, on Friday, October 13, 2023.

He was born on July 6, 1985, a son of Rodney & Janet (McBride) Woods.

He is survived by his parents Rodney & Janet, brother Jeffrey, wife Becca, all of Baylis, IL. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clair & Onetta McBride, of Nebo, and Dale & Virginia Woods, of Baylis.

Kyle attended Pikeland County School graduating from Pikeland High School in 2004. He was an excellent student. Kyle would draw pictures of tractors on the back of his spelling test and won the math contest. He was involved in FFA and Auto club. In FFA he won many offices, including President, and his state degree. During FFA week in the truck show he won the cleanliest truck. He was very proud of his Dodge Dakota truck.

Kyle graduated John Wood community College in 2006. He was an honor student. He was on the alumni board and helped with judging contests and the golf benefit.

He was involved in Pittsfield Producer 4-H Club and showed Chester white hogs. They won many awards including Illinois State Fair Grand Champion gilt hog that the Woods farm raised that year. Kyle entered an essay contest by the Spot Association and won a spotted gilt. That started his spotted swine herd. Jeff and Kyle would often talk about all their experiences while going to county fair, going up and down the highways while showing their hogs. We equipped the farm machinery with a lift to put Kyle in so he could operate the equipment and he greatly enjoyed it. He was a very intelligent individual who did the farm records for the farming operation. He enjoyed working with fertilizer and seed companies to make plans for our farming operation. He was an avid farm toy collector.

Kyle had worked at the FSA Farm Service office for a short time. He was a member of the Barry United Methodist Church.
